by | Sep 6, 2018 | Travel

Not so long ago air travel was only accessible to the few, not the many. It was costly and often very limited for choice when it came to exploring new destinations. Now with the arrival of budget airlines and far more flights to far more places worldwide, seeing the world has never been easier. And in many cases, cheaper!

This has also led to much greater competition within the airline industry, with many of the bigger airlines slashing prices to keep up with the budget airlines. This can lead to amazing flash sales and great offers if you shop around a little. And now we have the internet, shopping around has never been easier as well. With literally just a few clicks you can be booking cheap flights to far-flung destinations or even places closer to home and set off on your travels.

Where To With A Cheap Flight?

Many presume that you can only get cheap flights to domestic locations or cities not too far away. However, for the more savvy shopper, it’s not unheard of to get cheap flights to amazing destinations such as New York, Dubai and Los Angeles.

Imagine jetting off to New York and climbing to the top of the Empire State Building. Or exploring the UAE, visiting Dubai and wondering at the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. Or perhaps your more of a beach bunny, with a trip to LA to stroll along Venice Beach. The options are endless.

Do You Get What You Pay For?

There is often a misconception that when you book a low-cost flight or snap up a bargain flight, you may have to suffer lower standards or fly at ridiculous times, long layovers for connecting flights and to airports that are in the middle of nowhere. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Often some of the worlds best airlines will discount seats throughout the year so that they can fill their planes. Their view is that if the flight is going anyway, they might as well get as many passengers on board as possible. But if you are worried that you may get a few surprises when it comes to cost, look for things like added on costs, such as baggage allowances and in-flight meals.

So where will you be booking your flights to? Are you heading to the beach or is a city break more your thing? Are you heading long haul or somewhere closer to home?

Bon Voyage!
